Description: Discover the art of hand-building through slab, coil, and sculptural techniques that bring your ideas to life. You’ll create two expressive works: a Dimensional Animal Tile, where texture and relief tell a story, and a Narrative Bust, a sculptural portrait inspired by your imagination.
This class welcomes all levels—come ready to experiment, connect, and see where the clay takes you.
Description: This class will cover the first basic steps of wheel-thrown ceramics. Students will learn to center the clay on the wheel, form the bottom of the vessel and then begin creating simple cylinder forms. Students will also learn to trim their pots on the wheel and glaze their pieces. Intermediate students can brush up on their skills and will choose specific projects to work in a series, improving craftsmanship and to creating more complex forms. Students will have the option to fire in cone 6 oxidation or cone 10 reduction. Carving techniques and slip trailing/decoration will also be demonstrated and incorporated into the class for those who are interested. Those who have taken the class before are welcome to work on more advanced methods of decoration and building.
