Thursday Afternoon All-Levels Pottery Wheel Class

Description: Includes 7 weeks of studio access + 1 additional week of studio access to complete projects, 25 lbs of clay, glazes and firings during class session. Additional clay/glaze/firing package available for $100 per bag.
Age: Adults 18 and over
Description: This class will cover the first basic steps of wheel-thrown ceramics. Students will learn to center the clay on the wheel, form the bottom of the vessel and then begin creating simple cylinder forms. Students will also learn to trim their pots on the wheel and glaze their pieces. Intermediate students can brush up on their skills and will choose specific projects to work in a series, improving craftsmanship and to creating more complex forms. Students will have the option to fire in cone 6 oxidation or cone 10 reduction. Carving techniques and slip trailing/decoration will also be demonstrated and incorporated into the class for those who are interested. Those who have taken the class before are welcome to work on more advanced methods of decoration and building.
