Description: Learn the traditional method of building large vessels with coils. In the first week students will learn to roll consistent clay coils by hand and how to begin a vessel in a plaster form. Students will learn how to pinch and smooth the coils throughout the construction process to create one seamless vessel and to integrate non-blended coils for decorative purposes. The final weeks of the class will include finishing techniques including burnishing, and firing and glaze tips. Students will have studio access during the six weeks of class for working on the vessels outside of class time.
